Though it may not be as stunning as other Big Sur beaches, you will enjoy Willow Creek for its short walks leading directly onto its shores as well as stunning vistas and serene atmosphere.
Sand Dollar Beach at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park offers hikers another fantastic beach for hiking – Horseshoe-shaped, it is best known as being home to McWay Falls which plunges 80ft into a sandy cove. Unfortunately, Due to erosion issues the Overlook Trail leading directly to McWay Falls is no longer open, but you can still enjoy an enjoyable stroll along its beachfront.
This beach is known for its distinctive purple sand, created by manganese garnet from rocks along the coast and created when water flows over it, turning the surface lilac-violet hues. This area makes an excellent place for exploration and photography; best time is low tide with gentle waves.
Andrew Molera State Park offers the ideal place to unwind away from the crowds at other Big Sur beaches. While its beach may not stretch as wide, you will still have enough room to stretch out and relax on this serene stretch, complete with its serene lagoon where herons and egrets commonly gather.
Garrapata State Park may not be directly on the ocean, but this scenic beach stands out in Big Sur as one of its finest. Sheltered by rugged bluffs which shield it from rough waves and lined by eucalyptus trees, Garrapata’s beach provides an excellent place to watch marine wildlife such as sea lions and otters as they explore these calm waters.
